Speculation surrounding Williams' future has intensified in the wake of his starring role in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph. La Liga giants Barcelona have remained keen on roping in the player this summer and are reportedly ready to trigger his €58 million (£48m) release clause. Ligue 1 champions PSG are also in the race to sign the youngster, although the Catalan giants are being considered the favourite candidates at the moment.

Per Fabrizio Romano, the Basque club are planning to offer a salary hike as an incentive for the winger if he decides to stay instead of joining either Barcelona or PSG. Williams put pen to paper on a new deal last season and had seen an increase in his earnings, however, Athletic Club are reportedly prepared to offer one more hike within just a year to reward his loyalty.
